Committees ...

Committees are the lifeblood of a successful organization. Their members do the real work of the organization and they are indispensable to an organization's success. FGBC has two categories of Committees: Standing Committees, which are established by the By-laws; and Working Committees, which are established by the Board of Directors to accomplish specific tasks.

The 5 Standing Committees established by the FGBC By-laws are as follows:


FGBC Standing Committees and Their Duties

Education (current chair: open):

  • Maintain FGBC continuing education and accreditation files.
  • Develop educational materials and programs that can be promoted to members, industry and the public.
  • Maintain a schedule of education and training events and linkages to appropriate non-FGBC events.
  • Provide web site education and training content.

Nominating (current chair: Rob Vieira):

  • Ensure electoral honesty and fairness.
  • Establish the nominees for elections of the Board of Directors and its Officers.
  • Process nominations and referenda from the membership.
  • Provide web content for elections.

Research & Technical (current chair: Eric Martin):

  • Provide technical guidance to the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain web-based credits list for standards adopted by the Board.
  • Process requests from private entities wanting their latest widget to qualify for credit under one of the standards.
  • Respond to questions of a technical nature asked by visitors to the web site.

Program & Promotion (current chair: Pattie Glenn):

  • Manage program operations (e.g., provide certificates, etc.).
  • Market FGBC programs.
  • Maintain FGBC web site.
  • Prepare, coordinate and circulate news releases for FGBC.
  • Coordinate FGBC fund raising efforts (grants and partnerships).

Standards (current chair: open):

  • Oversee the development of Standards, Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Uphold the requirements for consensus in the revision and public comment on standards.
  • Provide Standards content in easy-to-use, web-based format.


FGBC Working Committees

FGBC's Working Committees are responsible for the development and implementation of all programs and activities related to their interest area. This may include, but is not limited to, the development of standards, guidelines and procedures; the development of training, education and marketing materials; and the programing and production of public events, shortcourses and conferences. The following Working Committees have been established:

  • Green Local Governments (cities and counties)
  • Green High Rise Residential - Chair Drew Smith
